The Orfeo Orchestra and Purcell Choir, conducted by György Vashegyi, will perform on period instruments.

Tonight at 7:30 PM, Dmitry Matvienko leads Aarhus Symfoniorkester at Musikhuset Aarhus in a program that highlights his dynamic vision and precision.

A grand opening of the Opera di Roma’s season took place a few days ago with Richard Wagner’s Lohengrin, conducted by Michele Mariotti!

The theatre was in celebration, with 10 minutes of applause at the end of a performance that was the result of an enormous production effort, involving a great number of artists and technical staff.

On 29 November, Jordi Savall and Hespèrion XXI performed as part of the Berliner Philharmonie’s Baroque Weekend.The programme guided the audience into the mythological “Garden of the Hesperides”, a theme reflected through works by Diego Ortiz, Gaspar Sanz, Pedro Guerrero, Francisco Correa de Arauxo and others. The selection highlighted a broad spectrum of Iberian and Mediterranean musical traditions from the Renaissance and Baroque periods.

Savall and the musicians of Hespèrion XXI presented this repertoire with historical instruments and performance practices that revealed the structural clarity, rhythmic variety and expressive language of the works. Their interplay gave insight into how these sources connect improvisation, dance forms and liturgical elements.

A memorable concert, both as part of the Philharmonic’s season-long tribute to Savall and as a precise, well-curated overview of early music’s cultural landscape.

Puccini’s La Bohème returns to the Met from 30 November to 12 December, with Daniele Rustioni, the Met’s Principal Guest Conductor, leading four performances of this landmark work.

This revival features Stephen Costello as Rodolfo, Juliana Grigoryan as Mimì, and Mané Galoyan in her Met role debut as Musetta. They are joined by David Bizic as Marcello, Iurii Samoilov as Schaunard, and Alexander Köpeczi as Colline.

La Bohème is the most frequently performed opera in the Met’s history—1,410 performances since its Met premiere in 1900.
